Bonatto & Cia Ohme-style metal travel set
This lovely little collectable travel set by Brazilian maker Bonatto & Cia LTDA is based on the classic Herman Ohme mid-century modernist set. Unlike some modern copies, the pieces in this set retain the longer elegant lines of the original Ohme pieces. Small indentation on the pegs of the pieces allow for a stable fit in the wooden holes of the board - though I am not sure of the wisdom of mixing metal pieces with wooden holes, as I suspect they would wear out with too much play. Kings 1.56" (1.7" including the peg).
Small trade label behind the inner felt backing, bears a "C.G.C.M.F" tax code, which was introduced in 1965 and used through to 1998. This set likely dates to the 1970s based on the form of the label.
