Jaques Staunton "Lasker" Small Club Set (~4") c1885

My very first small club sized Jaques "Lasker" Staunton set, circa 1885. Only the white king is stamped (perhaps one of the last generation to only have the white king stamped; soon after this time Jaques started to also stamp the black king). Heavily weighted set with original box, sadly missing the label to the interior.

The set was passed down through family to the seller, and came with some chess ephemera from Cambridge University Chess Club 1949-50. Perhaps the results underlined in the "Chess Bulletin" belonged to the set owner's girlfriend, a Miss D.Colmer, as there is some writing on the front page which says "P4 g/fnd Results". I believe this is Deirdre Colmer, (1912-1968) who was a regular competitor in British Ladies' Championships, and a match captain for the Queen's Gambit club. The kings' finials were missing - the photos currently have my "stand-in" finial which I made a while ago, but it is good enough for now for the impression of what the kings may have originally looked like. I am looking into having wooden replacements made.
