British Chess Company Staunton c1898

The classic British Chess Company Staunton set.  Immensely enjoyable to handle: solid, chunky; weighty; ergonomic; beautifully turned. Classic Xylonite knights.

This is a No.3 size in BCC nomenclature, with the kings in this set standing at 3.89", and weighing in at a hefty 113.3g for white and 128.6g for black.  Double collar pawns, slightly shorter stems and more "curvaceousness" indicate manufacture in the late 1890s.
