Mini Koziol Royal Court set, 1950-60s

The smallest example of Koziol's "Royal Court" pattern, with kings just under 1.75".  I have had larger versions in my cabinet before, but they were eventually edged out and into a cupboard, and finally sold. I bought this little set partly of a reminder of the previous nice sets I had owned, but also because it came in such an attractive decorative case, which won't take up much space at all tucked into the corner of a display.

The German firm, Koziol, made a range of plastic sets, which are quite common and easily obtained (with the design later much copied).  These miniature sets do pop up on occassion but, in my experience, are less common, especially in as perfect condition as this one.  The bottom of the case states "Made in Western Germany".
