Small quality St George, circa 1860

A lovely little set - but one of those frustrating ones with missing pieces! But I can't complain too much, as this was part of an auction lot with my Tom-o-Shanter St George and Philipine Staunton.

Quality turning and quality wood, with a style reminiscent of Foster sets, or one of his contemporaries.  Boxwood and ebony, with 2.8" kings.  The black side is just missing one pawn, but the white side is sadly also missing the queen, a pawn, a bishop and a rook.
