German Toy Chess Set, circa 1860

A rather sweet little German toy set (Nuremberg?), with painted faces to the pieces. Made of fruit wood, possibly pear wood. I particularly like the rooks in the set, which reveal the wonderful quality of this set (that the painted faces and "toy" moniker might hide!). Kings are 2.85".
