HAC clock, circa 1930s

Another very generous collector and member of various chess Facebook groups gifted me this lovely old clock. It was in need of some care when I received it - the wooden case had shrunk leading to several cracks across the face, the clock faces were stained with oil (one has restained itself, and the mechanism needs a good clean!) the clocks weren't working, and nor was the mechanism.

It was a great opportunity to work on a clock with zero risk (from a financial point of view) - and I'm very happy to say that I got the clocks working again (some gently cleaning and application of synthetic oil to key pins), half fixed the mechanism (further tweaks needed), and cleaned up the clock faces with some very clever "oil sucking" spray (though, as noted, one of the faces had gone brown again as I obviously had not mopped up sufficient oil from the spring housing).

The frame fell apart when I opened it up (along the lines of the cracks), but some wood glue and clamps sorted that. The glass was filthy, but cleaned up beautifully. Overall a wonderful clock!
